How to hide apps on iPhone without uninstalling them

Most iPhone users have at least a few different apps that they want to get rid of but can’t get rid of, or simply don’t want to clutter up the Home screen and folders. Depending on the situation, deleting it may not be possible either. For example, a lot of apps built into iOS cannot be removed. Or in other cases, such as with the Camera app, there’s really no need for a malicious app icon when the functionality is built into the iPhone’s Control Center.

It may seem a little redundant to need to switch between icons for functions that are already stored in one form or another in the iPhone interface. It can also be annoying to have to find a place for certain apps (eg, how often does anyone use the Clock app?) that you never use but can’t actually get rid of. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Fortunately in such situations, you can hide the apps instead. It doesn’t remove them from your phone, so it won’t free up any storage space, but it can be an effective way to keep its icons out of sight without making the apps themselves inaccessible.

in the settings

One way to hide apps on your iPhone is to select them through your settings. However, any apps that were hidden in this way can still be found via the apps library or the search function. The app will also continue to appear in Settings, regardless of whether it is hidden or not.

It’s also worth noting that you can’t completely hide an app, for example for privacy reasons, as it will still be found in the apps library. The only way to prevent an app from appearing in the app library is to delete it from your iPhone.

  1. Opens Settings and press Siri and search.
  2. Scroll down to the list of apps and find the app or apps you want to hide.
  3. Tap the name of the app in the list, then toggle appear on the main screen to the exit position.
  4. In order to “unhide” an app that was previously hidden for any reason, repeat these steps but toggle appear on the main screen to on instead.

From the main screen

If you’d rather not dig into the settings menus, you can also hide apps one by one right from your home screen.

  1. Find the app you want to hide on your iPhone’s home screen (or in any folders you’ve set up).
  2. Press and hold the screen for a second until the iPhone vibrates and the app icons begin to vibrate. Each icon will also have a “-” symbol appear near the top left corner.
  3. Press the “-” icon on the icon you wish to hide to display a new menu. Depending on the application, you will see options for Delete the appAnd Remove from home screenAnd Eliminates.
  4. Click Remove from Home screen to hide the app icon.
  5. You can also hide the app icon manually by tapping and holding the same icon to pull up a different menu.
  6. handle remove the app At the bottom of this list.
  7. Confirm that the application is hidden by clicking Remove from home screen.
  8. To bring up the hidden app icon again, scroll right from the home screen to pull up your iPhone’s app library.
  9. Find the hidden app in the app library, or use the search bar.
  10. Press and hold the app icon for one second to pull up a new menu, then tap Add to home screen. The app icon will appear again either on your home screen, or if it was previously organized into a folder, it will revert back to the folder it was placed in before it was hidden.
