To save what is happening on the iPhone screen, you may reach for a screenshot. But when capturing a series of events is important, then screen video recording is your best option. Fortunately, it’s easy to record screen on iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro, or 12 Pro Max. Here’s how.
What is screen recording?
On your iPhone 12, the screenshot captures a still image, but the screen recording directly captures a video that reflects everything you do on the iPhone screen, including notifications, apps, games, and more. You can use it to help troubleshoot problems, share actions with others, create video tutorials, and other tasks. Just remember that you cannot record the screen while using screen mirroring.

How to enable the Screen Recording button
Using screen recording on your iPhone 12 requires that a special “Screen Recording” button be enabled in the Control Center. (If you remember, the Control Center can be accessed by swiping down from the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.)
To get started, open the Settings app first.
In the settings, select “Control Center”.
In Control Center options, swipe down until you see the “More Controls” menu. Locate “Screen Recording” (with a plus icon next to it) and tap on it.
Next, you will see Screen Recording in the list of Inline Controls above. If you want to rearrange the shortcut buttons, you can click and drag the items in a specific order that will reflect when you open the Control Center. When you’re done arranging, exit the Settings app – it’s time to sign up!

How to take a recording screen on iPhone 12
With the Screen Recording shortcut added to the Control Center (see the section above), you’re ready to take a recording. To do this, first open the Control Center: Using one finger, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen near the battery icon.
In the Control Center, you will see a Screen Recording button (a circle within another). To record without sound, press the button once. If you want to capture audio from the microphone while recording the screen, press and hold the Record Screen button.
If you tap and hold the screen recording button, you will see a special pop-up screen. If you want to capture audio from the microphone, click the microphone button, then select “Start Recording”.
Three seconds into the countdown, the iPhone 12 will start recording. The clock in the upper left corner of the home screen will turn red, and the screen recording button in Control Center will turn red as well. If you enable the microphone, the recording will also capture audio.
To stop screen recording, you can do one of two actions. At any time, tap the red clock in the upper-left corner of the screen, then tap “Stop” in the pop-up that appears.
Alternately, you can open Control Center and tap on the red Screen Recording button.
Either way, the screen recording will stop, and you’ll see a confirmation saying “Screen recording video saved in Photos”, which means the video that was recorded on the screen is now in the standard photo library.
When you want to view (or share) your screen recording later, open the Photos app. You will see the thumbnail video recording screen among your photos and videos. You can also edit the video using the in-built editing features in the Photos app, which helps if you want to delete the video’s start or stop action. Happy recording!
