If your Android device is overheating, this could be the reason – Better Life

Many of us rely on our phones every day for work, entertainment, and to keep in touch with friends and family. Since they are such an integral part of our daily lives, when something strange happens with these devices, it can be very frustrating. Phones crash and sometimes stop working when they are old, but you may also experience inconvenient daily mishaps. When your phone suddenly starts to get hot, you might immediately worry that you’ve done something wrong. But if you are experiencing this with your Android device, it may be related to a problem that is beyond your control. Android Authority said your phone may be overheating due to an internal chip designed by a company called ARM. Both Samsung and Qualcomm (which provide processing chips for Android smartphones) have their main processors based on this chip.

Last month, Samsung already came under fire for “throttling” or slowing down the performance of some apps, which the company said was to prevent overheating, Android Authority reported. These issues also cause performance and power consumption issues, Bizenscoria mentioned. But some experts believe that this may not all be related to the design of ARM – it may also be part of the manufacturing process.

Apple bases its chips on the ARM design (but modifies it for iOS and iPhone products), and they don’t suffer from overheating or performance issues. This gives more weight to the theory that this issue is related to the manufacturing and performance of Android itself.

“In the meantime, Qualcomm is developing application processors for use by multiple manufacturers, and may hint at less efficient improvements,” the Android Authority said. “Although you could argue that Samsung has a similar manufacturing optimization advantage as Apple, so this explanation seems unlikely.”

Despite Samsung’s hype in March about throttling and limited performance, there’s no clear solution at this point, according to Android Authority. “We hope that Qualcomm and Samsung will find an effective way to adjust their designs to compete with Apple’s energy efficiency,” the outlet said. “Otherwise, hectic phones and blissful processors may become the new norm.”

Although there is no plan to fix the Android issue, if your phone is overheating, there are some steps you can take to try to cool it down. According to AVG, your Android device can overheat if you have outdated apps, if you stream content (like Netflix or YouTube), or if you leave it in the sun for too long.

To bring your Android device back to normal temperature, you will need to use less power, so AVG advises taking a break from using it. But if you can’t turn off your phone, you can also try to reduce the screen brightness, close the apps you don’t use and switch to Android battery saving mode. If your Android device gets hot while charging, you may have a damaged battery, charging port, or charging cable. You can solve the problem here by replacing the various components to see if it fixes the problem.

Rebooting your phone can also be an all-encompassing factor for some issues, but you may want to seek help from a professional who can replace your battery or help you detect potential malware.
