Android PS apps aren’t perfect, but they are still useful tools. Before we get started, it’s important to keep in mind that there are two separate PlayStation apps that you can use on your Android devices.

The first is the PS app, which enables you to search for, install and uninstall games, chat with your PSN friends, and see your prizes. The second is the PS Remote Play app, with which you will be able to play PS5 games on the go.

We’ve spent some time with both apps on the Pixel 6 Pro, and picked out a few tips and tricks to help you get the most out of them.

Before you start using the PS app, you will have to sign in with your PSN account.

How do I search for and install games?

While Sony has somehow improved the on-screen keyboard on the PS5, typing with your console is still an unwieldy and cumbersome process. Of course, you can buy a wired, wireless, or Bluetooth keyboard and use it when playing the PS5.

  4. Use your smartphone keyboard for compose messages.
  5. When your message is ready, tap Submit button.

PS ‘Party’ chat supports text, photos, videos, and even voice messages. The app also allows you to use voice chat, edit existing parties, and create new groups.

How do I check my prizes?

If you’ve ever owned a PS3 or PS4, you know how slow the rewards system on these consoles can be. Upon opening the cup and pressing the PS button, players had to wait endless moments for the details to appear. Here too, Sony has come a long way, and the awards are loaded almost instantly on PS5.

Still, you may want to check your trophies when your console is turned off. The PS app has a handy feature that allows you to do just that.

  1. Opens PS application.
  2. Click on a file profile picture or the name at the top of the screen.
  3. Click Awards Or on the trophy icons to see your trophies


The in-app prizes are organized from the most recent games you’ve played to the least recent.

How do I use Remote Play?

In addition to the PS app, Sony also has an app called PS Remote Play. As the name suggests, PS Remote Play allows you to stream a PS5 video signal directly to your smartphone screen. Sony has simplified the process of setting up remote play from PS4 to PS5. Follow these easy steps to start using Remote Play on your Android device:

From your PS5:

From your Android device:

Using a DualSense controller

Once your PS5 appears inside the Remote Play app, you can choose to play using the onscreen buttons (please don’t!) or connect your PS4 or PS5 controller to your Android device to play. DualSense controllers are currently compatible with Android 12 devices, as well as with Android 11. To connect your controller:


  1. Opens PS Remote Play app.
  2. Click on console icon at the top right of the screen.
  3. tap on Go to bluetooth settings.
  4. Grab your console and press and hold Create and the note buttons together until the light bar starts blinking.
  5. While the light is blinking, go to your phone’s Bluetooth settings and Select your console To connect.

You will have to connect your DualSense to your PS5 via a USB cable to use it again with the console.

Supported games and additional settings

Since Remote Play only broadcasts the PS5 video signal to your phone, all the games you play on your PS5 are compatible with it. The only requirement here is a fast enough internet connection.

If your gaming sessions with Remote Play are lagging, consider changing the video quality for streaming using the app’s settings.

Additional settings that you can tweak with the app include HDR, “vibrate on touch operation”, “use keyboard” and whether or not to allow mobile data streaming.
