SUPER GT Unveils 42 Car Entry List for Okayama . Opener

All 43 cars featured on the full-season entry list revealed in February will appear to raise the curtain April 16-17 except for the #244 Max Racing Toyota GR Supra in the GT300 class.

As previously reported, Max Racing missed the opening match after the death of team owner Tsuyoshi Oono last month, knocking out drivers Atsushi Miyake and Kimiya Sato.

However, the team has since announced that it plans to return from the second round of May at Fuji Speedway onwards.

There are no surprises on the GT500 portion of Okayama’s entry list, as all 15 cars that took part in both tests before last season are set to be on the grid with unchanged driver lineups.

In the GT300 class, which has been reduced to 27 cars in the absence of Team Max Racing, there are some additions and changes to the driver lineup compared to the official pre-season testing.

Team Match has announced that the Toyota 86MC, one of only two cars dubbed the “Mother Chassis” in the field, will be driven by both Reiji Hiraki and rookie Yusuke Tomibayashi this season.

The esports champion Tomibayashi took first place in the Three-Way Driver Assessment Test in Okayama over fellow Super Taikyo racers Masaya Kono and Kazuya Oshima (not to be confused with the Toyota Factory driver), and drove the #5 Toyota alone in the latest Fuji test.

Elsewhere, as reported by, Pacific CarGuy Racing secured a lineup of pros from Kei Cozzolino and Naoki Yokomizo in the Opening Match of Okayama, with respected racer Takeshi Kimura instead participating in Paul Ricard’s conflicting European Le Mans Series. .

Yokomizu replaced Kimura on two occasions last year and was also present alongside Kozulino and Kimura at Fuji pre-season testing at the wheel of a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo.

Meanwhile, Augusto Farfus is temporarily listed alongside Seiji Ara, but like Kimura, Farfus is expected to take part in the ELMS opening this weekend instead.

If the Brazilian doesn’t race as expected, third-team driver Tsubasa Kondo, who has featured Ara in both official testing of the new season, will replace Farfus aboard the #7 BMW M4 GT3.

Meanwhile, Yuki Tanaka has been completed as teammate of Taiyou Iida (formerly Taiyou Iida) in the new campaign aboard the #48 NILZZ Racing Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

Team Gainer, who suffered chassis damage to their No. 10 GT-R in a crash at Fuji’s pre-season test, is set to grid in Okayama with regular pairing Ryuichiro Tomita and newcomer Riki Okusa.
