The Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) is still a great addition to any smart home

I’ve been using the Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) since its release. While I was a fan of it when I received it, I’ve grown to love it even more. There are so many things it can do and I am amazed at it and surprisingly it has become one of the most used pieces of technology I have inside my home. If you’re looking to get an addition to your smart home and have already gone through the usual lights and smart speakers, then it’s very likely that a smart display like the Google Nest Hub will be your next addition.

From what we know, Google is working on a successor that can be detached from the base station, but we don’t have a clue how long after that. Maybe it will be worth waiting for its release so you can pick up this little gem for even less than it actually cost. The Google Nest Hub is powered by the Google Assistant, and you can stream music, play podcasts, find out about the weather, make calls on Duo, and more. The Google Nest Hub screen means you can stream content from YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and choose other services using just your voice.

about this Article – Commodity: I received a Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) from Google Ireland in October 2020 for IrishTech. The company has not had any input into the contents of this article.

How do I use my Google Nest Hub

The Google Nest Hub is surprisingly versatile when placed anywhere in the house, much more than I expected. At first, skeptical that I would get much use from it, he sat down at a table next to my bed. The sleep tracking feature (which was free at the time) worked well, and the ability to quickly search for things or have a visual indication of my lights was pretty cool. When I got out, it became the centerpiece of my kitchen.

You see, at first, I thought that the sleep tracking aspect of the Nest Hub would be one of its main features. I’ve never used any type of smart screen before, and while I enjoyed using it and found it to be a great piece of technology, I didn’t like the price. €100 for a great-looking sleep tracker and alarm clock? I thought it was overrated, although it also gave me Google Calendar alerts every morning on the home screen. Now I’ve learned that although sleep tracking was a great feature, it definitely is not The reason I would recommend getting it.

There’s a Google Nest Hub on my kitchen counter, and while it works great as a clock for telling the time, it works even better with timers. Ability to set timers when cooking without having to use my hands and be seen The visual representation of those counters is excellent. I can set more than one as well, keeping multiples on the go so I can see what I’m doing and what I need to do at any time. While these counters are on, I can play music, watch videos, or even ask Google to find things for me. I’m amazed at how much benefit I’m getting, and I think it’s going to be really hard to go back to it not using one anymore.

The best part of the whole experience is how well it integrates with the rest of my Google products. I can still use it to control my lights, I can play music from my phone and send it to the screen, and I can also control my Chromecast from it. He asks him to play Too bad On Netflix on Chromecast works, this kind of interplay surprised me. My kitchen is connected to my living room, and my Chromecast (which is in the living room) is connected to my speaker.

That’s one thing no I’d recommend getting the Google Nest Hub though, and that’s the speaker. that it Fine It works, but the quality of the music is very low, I do not recommend using it for a long time. You can connect it to at least a Bluetooth speaker, which is what I recommend. It works fine for watching videos and for voice commands, but I find the sound quality very disgusting.

What I want from the next generation Google Nest Hub

Google Nest Hub 2nd Generation

To be honest, Google is working on a winning equation with the Google Nest Hub. I feel like it’s a slightly niche product if you’re not necessarily looking to make your home a complete smart home just yet, but it’s definitely one of the first additions you should make when doing this indulgence. For the successor, there are clearly some major improvements that Google can offer right away.

The first is that I think Google should improve the quality of the speakers, and the reason for this is simple: With Google Smart Speakers, you have the option to upgrade and choose a better speaker. There is Nest Audio and Google Home Max and Max that are better than Nest Audio. The Max has been discontinued which makes it a bit tricky to find, although you can find it in some places if you look for it. Since it’s also a speaker, it doesn’t really need to get any software updates, so you should generally be good at picking an older product.

Next, I think the Nest Hub can take advantage of a file little bit larger screen. Bigger is generally better when we talk about smart screens, as it allows them to be seen from afar. There are obviously trade-offs (like taking up more space on a bedside cabinet if that’s where you have it) but I think for anything that involves visual media consumption or the desire to see it from afar, a larger screen makes sense. This brings us to the Google Nest Hub Max.

The Google Nest Hub Max is available in the US, and Google suggests that it would be fine in the kitchen. Keep in mind though that it’s also more than twice the price. It’s also worth noting that while the Google Nest Hub Max has a 10-inch screen and better speakers, it was launched in late 2019 and has never been updated, which means software updates may slow down on the Nest Hub Max before they slow down significantly. regular. Nest Hub There is a concern that third-party applications can Having problems in the future. It can also be difficult to pick up a Google Nest Hub Max outside of the US, depending on where you live. This generally makes it more difficult to recommend the Nest Hub Max despite it having a larger screen and better speakers, although you can still buy it from the first party in some areas. What we need is a constant update of the smart display in order to commit to support and update, and to generally upgrade the product to current technical standards.

However, if you’re looking for something a little more advanced for a smart home, the Google Nest Hub (or Nest Hub Max) is definitely an addition worth considering. With a successor on the horizon, it is very likely that its price will drop as well.
