Wework office key wallet support

An image from the WeWork app showing upcoming jobs

The icon we identified reads “Add to Wallet button clicked,” indicating that a future version of the WeWork app will integrate with Apple Wallet using the Office Key feature. Office Key support will allow users to use the Apple Watch to access WeWork locations, and will not require users to turn on the Background Location permission for the WeWork app.

The current WeWork Access Card supports Bluetooth Low Energy in limited locations, but ‌Office Key support in Apple Wallet is not available at this time. In iOS 15, Apple announced new Wallet features that let users add hotel, car, and office keys for one-click access.

Businesses that support Office Key can allow their employees to add company access badges to the Wallet app, with the iPhone and Apple Watch able to unlock office doors. The World Trade Center tenants and employees were the first to use this technology earlier this year.

WeWork has been in the news recently thanks to the TV show “WeCrashed” that premiered on Apple TV+ on March 18.
